The term scientific method is a phrase invented by historians and philosophers to describe the process of scientific discovery. The first step in the scientific method in the description is adopting an open mind. This is a laudable goal but also as elusive. There is effort and expense in experimentation and the motivation for an experiment is to establish evidence for what we want to believe. The impetus for any experiment is to drive an argument to the benefit of whoever puts in the effort and expense. This does not mean that scientists are evil. Anyone who is alive has to make a living. We don’t fault people who work and are paid to do a job that they wouldn’t do if not for the need to pay the rent etc. Like it or not this is the way it is.
Unfortunately the method for answering questions is debate. A party to one side of the issue is opposed by a party on the other side. This is politics and the important questions are decided this way. There is nothing right or correct about what is decided.
