The internet is governed by the tyranny of the immediate.

Censorship of individual videos is difficult. By the time the video of George Floyd being being restrained against his will. (He was under arrest for a reasonable reason) caused riots and millions if not billions of damage to innocent peoples property it was already too late for censorship to prevent these riots. This video apparently showed him being choked but the trachea is a rigid tube similar to armored electrical conduit which moves out of the way when pressure is placed on it. It resists compression because of the cartilaginous rings. It is not possible that George Floyd’s airway was compromised. From a political perspective the trachea is more like a straw that is easily compressed or kinked.

The video angers a lot of people as he was restrained against his will. He was under arrest. The physical struggle was not the preference of the police. He was told to sit quietly. Resisting arrest is hazardous. Many people are seriously injured or die. Gorge Floyd is one of them.

It is easy to loose sight of the fact that Derek Chauvin was doing his thankless job as a first responder in a neighborhood where he didn’t really want to go to. He did this as it was his duty. It is the job of the first responders, that is the police to secure the scene so that the second responders, the firefighters and EMS to do their job as second responders after the first responders, the police who actually get there first secure the scene.

Derek Chauvin is guilty of not realizing that George Floyd’s breathless feeling was an illness brought on by methamphetamine. Still to this day, doctors, EMS providers and the general public don’t realize that. The methamphetamine caused an illness inappropriately labeled Flash Pulmonary Edema. He did have the agitation that comes from methamphetamine use but he also was experiencing anaerobic metabolism causing a feeling of breathlessness.

Derek Chauvin is guilty of murder from a political perspective, a scapegoat. From a scientific perspective George Floyd died from methamphetamine use.

Resisting arrest is hazardous but in the view of many it is necessary to reverse the injustice of slavery that Derek Chauvin’s ancestors were responsible for.

Many medical topics presented on the internet are just as stupid.
